About

The Beginning

Noir was dreamt up and built by your hosts, Mike and Erin.  We're talking literal blood, sweat and tears.

It started as a small idea: building a set in the stinky garage for a youtube channel.  It quickly grew, fueled by a passion for playing behind the bar and a dread of last call with good friends.  Add a wedding deadline and here we are.

Building Noir

From the
ground up

With help from friends and family, we demo'd that stinky garage and built Noir--from the Saltillo floor to the recycled tile roof. We used “the wedding fund” to pay for it and we learned every trade we could along the way: finish carpentry, plumbing, electrical and more.

Your Hosts

About

We are Erin and Michael: a hands-dirty, learn to do it your self couple.

We have a real passion for our neighborhood and for LA's rich history. Slowly, but surely, we have been building our dream backyard, including my dream bar.

I've been bartending in Los Angeles for 9 years.  I've seen cocktail expectations grow, palates change, and more educated costumers who care about quality.  I am so happy to have worked with some of the best bartenders in the city who have expanded my knowledge and shared many drinks with me.  Michael and I have traveled to over a dozen cities last year alone --visiting dives and cocktail bars coast to coast, expanding our knowledge.  I spend about 10 hours a week doing R&D and love sharing what I'm working on with friends who stop by.

I practice from-scratch bartending, making everything I can and using the best ingredients I can get ahold of.  I still have a lot to learn, but  I love the process and I love crafting a damn-good cocktail.

Be Our Guest

A Bespoke Experience

As a guest of Noir, you’ll likely be subjected to my experimentations or an idea I’m trying to work out.  I have a menu filled with the classics that I can almost always make given my stock; but I’ll usually start with a question, “What are you in the mood for?”  From there, we’ll go on

a little journey until you call it quits.  At the end of the night, I kindly ask you to make a donation (cash or venmo) so I can keep the bar stocked.
